Edward Nicol was appointed Director Information Management for Cathay Pacific Airways in January 2003. His responsibilities include overseeing the strategic positioning and delivery of the airline's information management and technology requirements.

He obtained a degree in Geology from Oxford University, UK, and in 1975 joined John Swire and Sons and was seconded to Cathay Pacific Airways. After working in Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Bahrain for the airline he returned to Hong Kong and took up positions as General Manager Sales and Revenue Management and then General Manager Inflight Services. In 1995 he was appointed Director and General Manager of the Singapore-based loyalty marketing company, Asian Frequent Flyer Pte Ltd. In 1999 he became CEO of the companies in Cathay Pacific’s Catering Division based in Hong Kong and in 2001 he was appointed CEO of Seattle-based Tenzing Communications Inc. a technology company enabling email and telephony communications on aircraft. He was appointed Director Information Management for Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong in 2003 and is a director of Cathay Pacific Catering Services. He was appointed a director of SITA in 2003 and in 2006 was elected a Vice-Chairman and is also a director of OnAir.

Edward Nicol is married with two daughters.
